Happenings At the Farm
The Girls Always Want to Know What's Going On!
This past weekend we had lots of visitors come tour the farm as part of the Sustainable Connections Farm Tour.
All the visitors were given wagon ride tours of the farm.
Lots of samples and farming information were handed out.
A couple of the baby girls were out to meet the visitors.
Even Haggen's Grocery Store came out and brought along Splash the otter to meet visitors.
It was a fun day meeting some of our customers, showing everyone around our farm, and getting out information about how and why we farm.
This past weekend our kids had lots of fun attending the Whatcom County Youth Fair. They both signed up for the dairy division and brought one of our girls, Hattie, along. The learned all about showing and judging cows.
They also really enjoyed making some cute crafts, dissecting a calf with a vet, learning how to clip a cow for show, and making butter and ice cream.
The youth fair runs every spring and is a great learning experience for kids. Besides dairy, there are many other divisions available, from chess to rodeo to crafts to lots of different animals and many more. For more info about signing up or just visiting next spring, check out their website HERE.
Wow! It's been a while since we updated you on what's been happening around the farm! 2013 was a great year for us. We were very busy adding new stores and even expanding down into Oregon! Be sure to check out our store locator to see if any new stores near you have begun to carry our products. We have really enjoyed getting to meet many of you as we do in-store demos in the new stores. Thank you to everyone who stops by to sample our products and chat with us!
Things on the farm have been running smoothly and the girls are always keeping us busy as we care for them. We also added 112 new baby girls to our herd last year!
And while our farm and business were growing, so was our family. On December 30 we were very blessed to add another little farmer boy to the Tolsma family!
Thanks to Grow Northwest Magazine for the great article they wrote about Twin Brook Creamery! If you would like to read the full article you can find it here: http://www.grownorthwest.com/2012/12/twin-brook-creamery-by-the-glass-bottle/
The bunkers are full, the gardens are about done, and the pumpkins are decorating the deck. Fall is finally here! The girls loved all the gorgeous sunshine we had this summer and spent many hours out in the fields under blue skies.
When the weather changed last week, the girls still headed out to the fields, but surrounded by a different kind of beauty, fog.
And we all know what else fall brings, eggnog! We shipped out our first orders this week, so be on the look out for this tasty fall treat!
